Wikipedia: A wealth of information in one place. For free. Theoretically easily manipulated by people spreading dis/misinformation, but in practice nearly as good as any mainstream media outlet (though they set the bar pretty low).

Utilities

DuckDuckGo Search: Much as Google made its name for search quality, they continue to confound me with annoyances such as personalized search results, and most recently 'instant' searching. It's sad it took me so long to find DDG whose mission statement of real privacy protection matches my fantasies of what Google would choose to do in some alternate universe where ponies grow on trees. And DDG's search results, while not as good ad Google, seem halfway decent.

hulu: I must admit a minimal amount of respect for an internet TV service whose ad campaign portrays themselves as brain-sucking aliens. Shows I've watched recently on hulu- Hill Street Blues, Cleopatra 2525, News Radio, Kids In The Hall, ...

Beyond Vietnam, by Martin Luter King Jr, 04/04/67: The speech given by MLK exactly one year before his death, in which he breaks his silence, and begins opposing the United States' military industrial complex.

Linux Appliances

Media: ChannelRegister.co.uk review of SuSE-Gallery: "Novell has not said how much money – if any – SUSE Studio has driven through these appliance support contracts. Market watcher IDC is projecting that the software appliance market will grow to $1.18bn by 2012, and Novell could get an infrastructure slice of that."
